You guys will be watching the film on facial cues. Only the speaker's face will be visible. Don't try to read lips: the goal of this test is to see whether listeners glean more information from facial expression or body language otherwise.

Perhaps this man is explaining something, as in a documentary. He's excited about the subject and is talking about a controversial point.

Observations:
It seems like the man is telling a story about himself. He seems to be describing and listing things that maybe he's not too proud about, but not too ashamed, just dumb mistakes.. Maybe he's telling a story of his teenage years to his son in the hopes of helping his son out with a problem.

This looks like one of those commercials for diabetes patients or something to me. He's giving advice, but it also feels like he's selling something. It feels manufactured, like he's acting. He's speaking to his peers, and he seems a little embarrassed or something, like he's revealing a less-than-glamorous part of his life. But there's a lesson to be learned, or action to take, or something.

He looks angry. Like he's really giving us the ol' one-two verbally about something. I picture it as a Dad explaining the rules of the house to a kids whose just done something wrong.

The man seems to be telling a story from personal expirience and wants to make a point. It looks like he is being interviewed on a show.

It seems as if it is acted out, but he pauses to reflect on something. Usually that only happens when you are telling a story and you are feeling some sort of emotion about it, whether good or bad (normally not so good). But since it seems acted I don't think it is a personal story, maybe a history or somehow relating some sort of event or series of events that are unfortunate and happened to someone else or a group that he wasn't directly involved in. If that is the case it is probably some sort of documentary and the audience is whoever is interested in the topic.

Observations from film: It seems like he is not very relaxed. He may be speaking to an audience he is not really comfortable speaking to (so probably not friends or family) or else he is talking about a subject he is not comfortable with (something he is upset about or doesn't know a lot about). I say this because of how his eyes shift down, perhaps he is using notes if he is talking about some specific facts or details he doesn't have memorized. He just doesn't seem very relaxed and happy in this clip.

It seems as though the man is explaining something that he is concerned with and knowledgeable about. It's in a very structured and rehearsed atmosphere. Based just on the small clues around the man's head, it seems like he may be talking about an environmental issue, such as climate change or a natural phenomena that happens that he wants people to know more about. He seems a little concerned and is trying to pass on this information to the viewer to make us, in turn, more knowledgeable. He may be telling a specific story in order to help the viewer understand the larger, more pressing issue.

I must say I didn't like him! He seemed defensive, argumentative. Like someone had just verbal attacked him. Just the way his head kept snapping back and forth. He seemed really animated and didn't smile. To me, that says arguing.

It looks like this man is explaining/selling a product. He keeps looking to the side of him over at an object. Looks like he possibly could be using his hands as well. Normally when people look over to the side like this man is doing to sell/explain a product, they too are using their hands. He looks like he is talking to an audience on the other side of the tv. This clip reminds me of those late night commercials that nobody really cares for.

The topic is something factual. The gentleman speaks with confidence (his words are sure), but his feelings are unsteady (time has enabled him to rethink the situation). It seems like he's reliving an experience for the purpose of advising the listener. The conversation is directed toward a peer or someone younger who hasn't lived through the event yet.

He seemed like he wanted us to see his sincerity, so he was probably trying to convince us of something. He wasn't extremely emotional, and I couldn't figure out what lesser emotion (sorrow, content, anger, etc) he was expressing. I feel like I couldn't pick up very much.

It seams to me that the man is just telling a story, or talking about an event, or experience. Based on how expressive his face was, he seams to know about what he's talking about quite well. He doesn't seam upset or anything, just either excited to talk about the subject, or very passionate about it. I'm interested to know what he was saying now, it seamed important.

The man seems to be recounting some event. He looks away at times as if trying to recall details and then looks back at the viewer. He's not referring to anything presently in his surroundings. He is relating something from a different time, though probably related to what he's currently doing.

It seems like he is recounting something because he looks away and then looks at the audience, and he is emotionally involved in what he is saying because of his facial expressions. It looks like it would be toward a TV audience, like an instructional program or something.
